::Shows::
The Wherehouse
:: Winston-Salem, NC :: May 20, 1998
The premiere show for the Centre for Transgressive Behaviors was composed
of razorblades, fire, football players, filmloops and a singing transvestite.
A pre-chosen audience member was stripped of his clothes, tied up in front
of the stage, and was, after having his body hair removed, transformed
into a female soprano.
Go! Rehearsal
Studios :: Carrboro, NC :: June 21,
1998
The second show, like the first, had a cheerful transvestite who emerged
from the audience. This performance also consisted of a feast-dined table,
a birth-giving alcohol-poisoned hag, and two long-distance runners. The
show was performed to a monotonous, industrial score.
The Brewery
:: Raleigh, NC :: August 12, 1998
The third performance by the CTB had more audience participation than
earlier shows, which has since become a trademark of CTB performances.
This show also starred a 6-foot baby, a life-sized edible body cast, and
a well-equipped candy lady, who, together with Juanita Jones (the show's
hostess), turned The Brewery into a gastronomical orgy for both the ears
and eyes.
Gillies
:: Raleigh, NC :: October 1998
Probably the most unstructured and improvised show in the history of the
CTB... The audience got to watch a play of the seduction of a fair young
maiden, as well as three musketeers on big-wheels, a homemade scat-film,
and a screaming, candy-covered christ. The spectators were finally invited
to participate in a red-rover game, which ended the show.
The Caboose
:: Raleigh, NC :: December 16, 1998
The performance at the Caboose, played together with the Japanese group
Melt Banana, used more
developed props than any of the previous shows. In addition to a battle
between two foam-giants, the show consisted of fire-wielding girls and
the unfortunate death of one of the drummers by way of a poisonous pizza
slice. The show was brutally ended by the destruction of the giants by
an 8-foot-tall hammer.
Somewhere
Else Tavern :: Greensboro, NC :: February
1999
Due to traffic jams, this show consisted of an improvised musical piece.
The piece ended with a collective suicide and was regarded as one of the
scariest shows in the history of the CTB up to this point.
Trace
Art Gallery :: Raleigh, NC :: July 17,
1999
For this show, the CTB gave its version of a fashion show. Participants,
in addition to the actual fashion models in the show, consisted of an
orange-colored alien, a milk-throwing breast, the Spanish exploding boy,
a burning baby doll, a birthing phallus, and a gigantic shoe-shiner boy.
The show ended with the suicide of the fashion models in front of a burning
altar to a maniacal drum-orgy. See the pictures.
Kings
:: Raleigh, NC :: December 18, 1999
The theme at Kings show was loosely woven around various trials. The main
character, in the shape of a depraved pope, was gradually facing increasingly
confusing convicts. Among the other figures in the show were a paper-mache
pig that was hanged and beaten by the audience, a tiny servant (who was
subsequently destroyed by a vicious gladiator), a female jesus, a female
table-leg, and a puking giant made of gold. The trials were interspersed
with a chess-board scene showcasing two chess players and a lamp girl.
The trials were disrupted by an army of weird creatures destroying the
set-up, together with violent spectators.
Trace
Art Gallery :: Raleigh, NC :: May 19,
2000
The second show at Trace was a multi-room performance. The show was simultaneously
held in seven rooms, each hosting various absurd acts. Tainted emulsions
were hurled at various performers throughout the show. The performers
were then systematically dragged from their rooms after being drenched
in paint and various food substances. The show also made use of paint-pukers,
a phallic altarpiece, dinosaur screenings, virgin sacrifices, people on
swings beating each other with fly swatters, and a black and red giraffe.
The performance came to an end with a pagan wedding. Read the preview

Kings
:: Raleigh, NC :: October 21, 2000
The CTB's "last" show was performed October 21st at Kings,
in Raleigh, NC. As was indicated by the name of the show, "Terresmoto,"
the show had an earthquake theme. The show consisted of a naked, obnoxious
king on platforms, a burning body cast, and two fighters armed with gigantic
utensils. These events were framed by earthquakes during which the ceiling
fell in and parts of the set were destroyed. See the flier

G.R.O.W.
Café :: Columbia, SC :: December 16,
2000
The CTB’s first show outside of North Carolina was held in an old warehouse
space called GROW café. The event, which turned out to be one of the more
explicit and violent CTB shows, had its focus on cake-baking and wedding
ceremonies. This show contained gigantic birthing machines, a demented
chef using two girls as a cake-base, a wedding between a Panda bear and
a two-headed bird on platforms, umbilical chord competitions, and a ring
of fire. A rather chaotic ending took place where the bird exploded and
various parts of the set were destroyed. We’d like to give special thanks
to Elisabeth in Columbia, who made the show in South Carolina possible.

Innovations'
fetish-party :: Holiday Inn
:: Raleigh, NC :: December 30, 2000
Due to rather limiting restrictions of the Holiday Inn, this show held
a lower audience-interactive profile and focused more on visual absurdities
with erotic undertones. The show was divided into three sections; the
first and last acts contained butoh-dancing by two extraordinarily fat
people together with a more traditionally trained butoh woman. During
the middle act, a Siamese-twin pair read erotic limericks and two girls
gave a repetitive striptease which ended in ass-squirting Kool-Aid. The
performance lasted 30 minutes, the shortest show in CTB’s history. See
the pictures.
Smålands
nation :: Sweden :: March 19, 2001
First show on Swedish soil. CTB and The Feraliminal Lycanthropizers played
on a cultural evening with prominent Swedish artists such as Guds Söner
and Johannes Bergmark. The show consisted of a crazed chef brutally feeding
cake to an innocent girl, and a present girl who poured various liquids
over an innocent boy. The show ended in the bar section of the building
where all the messy participants had a refreshing drink. See the pictures.
Smålands
nation :: Sweden :: May 16, 2001
The CTB's second performance at Smålands nation was part of the
annual culture week. Other performances included Ingrid Engarås
and Pär Thörn. The performance was created around an absurd
traffic accident. A ramp was constructed leading from a table down to
the floor. A kamikaze-like performer then drove a vehicle down the ramp
under ritualistic behaviours, and died. He was subsequently dragged to
the main stage where he was buried under a bunch of chairs. See the pictures.
Arvika
festivalen 2001 :: Sweden :: July 16,
2001
The CTB's performance was performed on the Apollo stage at the annual
music festival in Arvika. At this year's festival over 10,000 people gathered
to see international celebrities (e.g., PJ Harvey, the Orb, and, of course,
the CTB). The performance was initiated by two construction workers who,
throughout the show, were creating a maze-like structure with poles and
ropes used at the end of the show for wheeling out a dead two-headed bird.
The show also contained a Panda bear trying to build a shelter, and a
self-mutilation scene with the two-headed, fat bird mentioned above. Fire
and a slow foxtrot were other elements included, creating the right mood
for a true CTB performance.
Hässleholms
festivalen :: Sweden :: August 18, 2001
At the Hässleholm festival, the CTB was asked to entertain the audience
before the teenage band Sahara Hotnight performed. Two parallel acts were
created on two platforms out in the middle of the audience. One contained
a eat-puker, who randomly ate and puked, whereas the other platform contained
a literate drowning in information. The show was ended with flowerpots
being smashed with sledgehammers.

festivalen :: Sweden :: September 22,
2001

Hässleholm Kulturhus (opening cermony) :: Sweden
:: September 23 , 2001
The opening cermony for the new cultural house in Hässleholm was
an ongoing event for an entire month. The CTB show was performed parallel
to a video festival. The show was initiated with the sound of a heartbeat
that lasted for about an hour. Two performers then created a giant figure
of industrial garbage, vegetables, and meat products. Another performer
poured colored liquid down to the front of the "stage" from
a platform 5 meters above the stage. When the creature was finished, one
of the performers got suffocated by the other and was admiringly seated
next to his new "friend."
Panora :: Malmö, Sweden :: October
20, 2001
The show at Panora was part of a 2-day alternative cultural festival (see
the "Lund Arthall" show, below). CTB was performing together
with bands/performers like Endless Smile and Hans T Sternudd. The show
was more theatrical than most of the other Swedish shows so far. The show
included a continous stabbing of a dead body, a frenectic draughtman,
a crucified body in hockey helmet and a fat guy eating Big Mac. The show
was ended by an enigmatic butoh-dancer with a spear.
Lund Arthall :: Lund, Sweden :: October
21 , 2001
The second evening of the alternative cultural event was held at Lund
Arthall. CTB performed together with local celebrities such as Missljud
and Kürten. During the show, performers fought each other with gigantic
phalluses, birthing penises, and a Swedish chef who cooked the fetuses
for their proud parents to devour. The show was ended by surgical removal
of the gigantic phalluses. See the flier.
Smålands nation :: Sweden :: February
22 , 2002
A late but typical CTB Christmas Eve was celebrated in honour of the ice-storms
passing over Sweden during late February. CTB performed together with
Hans T Sternudd, Missljud, Ich bin Laden, and Mooms. The show consisted
of two parallel actions: the cutting of Christmas tree branches, and the
dismemberment and reconstruction of dolls using a drill, saw, and shaving
devices. The new doll-parts were attached to the Christmas tree, and both
the actors and the spectators danced around it to traditional Christmas
songs. The merriest and most ascetic CTB show ever made! See
the flier. See the pictures.
Smålands
nation :: Lund, Sweden :: May 13 , 2002
The CTB performed together with Johannes Bergmark and Kürten at Smålands
Nation for the annual cultural week. The show was part of an ongoing three-show
event with ropes and threads as the main theme. A person was led into
the room, was positioned in between two poles, and then was tied to the
poles by ropes. After some time passed, the person was put into a horizontal
position, laying on top of the ropes. More ropes, plastic wrap, anchovies,
and bread were wrapped around the person and finally wine was poured over
him. This neat little package was then cut down and wrapped into a present
which was addressed "To Jesus from CTB." A show filled with
pain and agony!
Fylkingen :: Stockholm, Sweden :: May
17 , 2002
The show at Fylkingen was part of an Aktionist evening referred as "Causing
Trauma." Besides the CTB, Hans T Sternudd, Ich bin Laden and TGF
performed. The second show on the theme ropes and threads involved the
construction of five meter long wings, tooth-brushing, oil-refilling,
and a disastrous attempt at flight. The music score was produced together
with David Liljemark and Fredrik Jonsson from the band Sugar Daddy. The
CTB would like to thank Ingrid Engarås and Hans T Sternudd for the
arrangement.
